Angelica pubescens , a Chinese herb called Du Huo. It is a bitter, acrid, and warm herb. The root is used. It enters the Kidney and Bladder channel and affects the lung, stomach and colon.
Properties are classified as a diaphoretic warming herb that is also a carminative, stimulant, expectorant, tonic, analgesic, and emmenagogue.

Actions:
1 dispels wind-dampness and alleviates pains. So it is in many formula for low back and leg pain which are being caused by a wind-cold-damp obstruction.
2. Disperses wind-cold-dampness for lung ailments, colds, pleurisy. It can be used as an expectorant or diaphoretic agent. The leaves can also be used as an external poultice for chest and lung diseases.

It is a great herb to improve warmth and circulation in the winter.
In TCM, it is classified as a herb that dispels wind-dampness, in western literature, it is a warming diaphoretic.
Michael Tierra says, "One of the best herbs for arthralgia symptoms caused by wind, dampness and cold. It is especially useful for rheumatic pains of the lower body and for patients whose mobility is impaired as a result of pains in the waist, legs, and feet.
