NATURE: Cold; TOXIC~ relatively; Sweet; Astringent

CHANNELS: SP; KI

ACTIVE AGENTS: Has guanidine, metformin, phenformin, galegine

DOSE (CAUTION: TOXIC~ relatively):
As Dec: 0.5-1g;
As 1: 10 Tincture in 45% ethanol: 2-4mL TID;
Metformin dose: 250-850mg BID-TID before meals;

ACTIONS:
(1) Antidiabetic / Hypoglycaemic; Boost Insulin Sensitivity; Boost Glucose Tolerance; Activate AMP-kinase (AMPK); AMPK can Reduce LV Glucogenesis; Reduce IGF-1 levels;
(2) Enrich Yin + Generate Jin-Fluids; Diuretic; Release Exterior + Clear Heat; Make Sweat; Digestive; Reduce Appetite; Aid Slimming / Antiobesity; Lactagogue; Breast Enlarger;
(3) Anticancer; Induce Apotosis; Aromatase Inhibitor; Decrease Oestrogen production; Chemotherapy / Radiotherapy Support;
(4) Sedative / Stunning effect on fish

CLINICAL USES:
(1) hyperglycaemia / diabetes Type 1 + 2 / Wasting + Thirst Pattern w polydipsia, polyphagia, polyuria, halitosis;
(2) Yinxu / Yinxu Heat + Fluids Xu, oliguria; Exterior Heat / Fever / plague / infectious diseases, maybe wo sweat; digestive DysFx, constipation~ chronic dt lack of digestive enzymes; bulimia / obesity; breast underdevelopment; hypogalactia;
(3) cancer (breast, colon, LU, prostate, panceas, uterus); Chemotherapy / Radiotherapy Support;
(4) SAS Survival Manual to Stun Fish (Rx + Fl strongest but crushed Hb used mostly; thrown into a pool w restricted flow; floating fish are OK to eat)

CAUTION: TOXIC nature relatively high; little used in modern clinical practice; may cause lactic acidosis;
