One of our simplest GI herbs;
Psyllium, Plantago ovata, an herb that optimizes
intestinal bacterial populations with a trophic effect
on the intestinal mucosal epithelium.
Psyllium, Plantago ovata, the seeds are used to
provide fiber (the husks) or mucilage (the seeds).
The roughage stimulates the bowel whereas the
mucilage coats and soothes. The fivber is believed
to get into the circulation and improve conditions
of the vasculature.

Propertites: demulcent, laxative.
The outer husks are used as a bulk-fiber laxative .
The whole seed is a lubribationg laxative.
Uses: Internally, treats acute or
chronic constipation which is dry, husk; externally,
used to relief skin irritation, make a whole-seed
paste.
Michael Tierra suggest for dry constipation, combine
two parts psyllium seed husks together with equal
parts flax and chia seeds.
